Conservatives have recently hypothesized that record-setting snowstorms justify a lack of ‘global warming.’ In the most recent beltway blizzard, Republican congressman Jim Inhofe’s family built an igloo on the National Mall and planted a sign atop the monument which read ‘Al Gore’s new home.’ Asheboro has seen much more than its fair share of snow. According to North Carolina State University; “snow and sleet occur on average, once or twice a year” in the triad. We have had three snowfalls of more than one inch, along with a couple of flurries. The obvious assumption one would make is, well, global warming is not real. The earth is cooling. It is snowing. Logically, it must be cooler than usual this year. This might be corroborated by the bastion of disgraceful corruption exposed by the heroic ‘climategate’ hackers. The most famous group of all climate scientists (IGCC) was proven to have manipulated data and buried evidence of a global cooling trend over the past fifteen years. But is it true? Do the crippling blizzards all over the world (even Toronto now) prove global warming to be a fabrication?
Liberals are now screaming that the blizzards are proof of global warming. It’s not just the politicians, either. I can understand why scientists would defend their theories. They want funding. I can understand why political zealots would defend their theories. They are zealots. I am much more surprised to see prominent journalists shrieking about the clear and obvious conclusion that worldwide blizzards are proof of global warming. It is counter-intuitive.
These snowpocalypses that have been going through D.C… are precisely what climate scientists have been predicting, fearing and anticipating because of global warming. Why is that? The thinking is that warmer air temperatures on the earth… ha[ve] a greater capacity to hold moisture… and then as winter comes in, that warm air cools full of water, and you get heavier precipitation on a more regular basis. In fact, you can argue that these storms are not evidence of a lack of global warming, but are evidence of global warming
Dylan Ratigan issued the previous statement on MSNBC. As any clear-thinking person should do, I considered this statement and tried to determine its validity. It is true that warm air holds more moisture. It is also true that it must be cold to snow. Warm air goes away when it is cold. I was not convinced. While browsing the news today, I noticed that several clips of Democrat Congressmen were played on the radio, all of which were from the past decade, and all of which argued that the lack of snow in the U.S. over the past several years was clear proof of global warming.
Looking at the United States of America, the IPCC clearly warned that unchecked global warming will lead to reduced snow pack in the western mountains, critically reducing access to water, which is our lifeblood.
Barbara Boxer said this last March. So, let me get this straight… The same IPCC that pundits and purveyors are citing as their base of “climate scientists” said that a lack of snow proves global warming and that a surplus of snow proves global warming? I suppose if you are working in the labyrinth of an elephantine bureaucracy, anything is possible. When examining the evidence presented over the past several weeks, the only conclusion I can make is that using crisp and sound logic to determine the legitimacy of this issue is impossible for average Americans. At present, typical Washington, Cartesian, absurdist logic is used to present an Orwellian double-speak to the helpless minds ogling the television screen. God help us.
